Mohegan closed thier poker room not out of choice, but cause they had NO CHOICE.
MS contracted out the running of thier poker room and their were shady goings on at the tables and drugs and prostitution happening in the back room.
This from a former MS player & dealer (2 people) now playing & dealing at Foxwoods.

YOU ADDED KRISPY KREME DOUGHNUTS,IF YOU WANTED TO PUT SLOTS IN PLACE OF THE POKER ROOM FINE,IF IT WOULD GENERATE MORE REVENUE,BUT YOU COULD HAVE RELOCATED THE POKER ROOM.TO MAKE UP THE LOSS OF THE POKER ROOM LOSS THE PROFIT FROM KRISPY KREME WOULD HAVE TO BE $115,000.00 PER WEEK.DO YOU WANT US TO BUY THAT BESIDES THE OTHER FALSEHOODS YOUVE THROWN AT YOUR LOYAL POKER PLAYERS WHO SUPPORTED YOU FROM DAY ONE.I HAVE NOT MENTIONED THE ADDITIONAL REVENUE THAT POKER PLAYERS CONTRIBUTE TO THE CASINO.TELL US HOW WE CAN SUPPORT A CASINO THAT TOOK AWAY A ROOM THAT WE LOVED AND SUPPORTED FROM DAY ONE?

I have been going to Mohegan Sun since it opened, Unfortuniately the hotel didn't open until years later which meant we had to stay at Foxwood's. Now we will only stay at Mohegan Sun. Cost no more than Foxwood's.
My wife loves their spas, salons, and shops.
The people are friendlier, and the food is great.
See you in two weeks.

I really loved Mohegan! I didn't win a thing but then again did I really expect to? Not really .. We did go to the spa which was wonderful. All the staff were wonderful friendly and helpful. The place is spotless. The shops are fun. We ate at the Fish place and the Japanese place both were great. A bit pricy but very good. I wish the rooms wern't so expensive so I could go with the whole family. $300.00 + is to steep for my blood. Hopefully we'll be back for the day but unfortuanally have to stay elsewhere.

Mohegan Sun is a very nice hotel, My wife and I had an wonderful time but the only complaint that I have here is that I love playing high stakes poker and unfortunately in early September 2003 the owners of Mohegan Sun decided to permanently close the poker room which now leaves rival casino Foxwoods located 10 miles down the road the only legal poker room in all of New England and unfortunately since the closure it is extremely hard to get a table at Foxwoods since the poker room is continuously busy and the list grows ever longer making it almost impossible to play.
My suggestion to the Mohegan Sun is stop smoking the peace pipe and get off the booze and reopen the poker room and when you do my wife and I will come back to your fine establishment.

I really liked this casino! It's big and has a fun atmosphere. I also went to Foxwoods (which I enjoyed) but enjoyed this casino even more. Didn't get a chance to eat here or stay but everything looked great. And since the hotel is fairly new, I'm assuming it's quite nice. Would definitely stay again.
